The 76th edition of the Festival del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Thursday, May 2 opened the proceedings with one of the most monumental dramas of Giuseppe Verdi's Don Carlo in symphonic form because of the difficulties that the theatre is going through. On the ground floor the mayor of Florence, Matteo Renzi, and the new minister for cultural heritage, Massimo Bray, in his first public appearance.
