A visit to La Bottega degli Orafi is a journey through the centuries- old techniques of chisel, engraving on silk and hammering, not to mention a love for Florence and distant civilizations, as well as animals and nature in general. In this small treasure chest of a shop in the Santa Croce neighbourhood, Gianluca Cassigoli expresses all this in his finely-crafted, timeless jewellery. An expression of the most traditional Florentine art, his works – like his crocodile ring on display in the Treasury of the Grand Dukes – convey his immense passion for exotic lands: jewellery pieces with an unexpected light and a fretwork design and embellished with diamonds and other precious stones, the product of a skilled and patient work.
