The mission of the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio - founded by Giuseppe Lisio, who opened his factory in Florence in 1906 - is to pass down the art of the hand-weaving of precious textiles in silk, brocades and cut-pile, bouclé or ciselé velvets. These artistic masterpieces are created by weaving on late eighteenth century Jacquard looms. The Foundation’s mission also includes running specialist and professional courses where theory and practice combine to offer top-quality, comprehensive training. The Foundation may be visited during laboratory working hours, with guided tours (advanced booking required).
