Vanessa Vanni, Revolux Love
The love of vintage and second-hand fashion as seen by fashion scouting
Vanessa, what do you do for a living?
I work in the vintage and second-hand fashion business. I do not have a shop, but an office and a showroom from where I manage the online sales process.
How did you develop this passion?
The nostalgia for the 1980s and 1990s, when fashion was sparkling and charismatic, and I was a young girl dreaming of being part of it. Wearing a vintage blouse, by Gianni Versace for instance, makes you dive into the energy of those years!
The most beautiful piece you’ve ever put your hands on?
A wooden necklace that once belonged to the great Anna Piaggi, with a big heart and the golden Chanel logo.
The most amazing deal?
One day I received a gift. The card said: “For you who loves Fashion so much. You will be able to value this bag more than I will ever do”. I opened the box and there was a Gucci Bamboo Baiadera bag inside, a rarity! Selling it would be a great deal, but I love it too much to let it go!
You tell stories about the golden age of fashion on your IG profile. Please tell us the story that most touched you.
I met Karl Lagerfeld at a Chanel event in Paris and I ask him to sign my red Timeless bag and he did, saying “Vous êtes formidable’’! over and over again. I told the story on my Instagram profile, go check the featured content.
The five places in Florence you love….
Fashion: the Museum of Costume and Fashion, recently reopened. Art: the Stibbert Museum. Food: Ino il Panino on Via dei Gergofili. Traditions: a walk through the Boboli Gardens… it’s not just for tourists. Culture: I’m anxiously waiting for the opening of the An/Archive at Manifattura Tabacchi, a Polimoda project, a fashion library containing about 30,000 volumes.
