Raffaello Napoleone. New connections from Pitti
Our meeting with the Delegate Administrator of Pittimmagine
Pitti Connect is new for 2020. What’s it all about?
Pitti Connect is the online version of the salons of Pitti Immagine. It’s a high-tech platform that was conceived as an efficient networking and business tool for this season’s brands and designers, and it will be active and available to visit from the beginning of July to the end of October
What new opportunities are opening up with the post-Covid era?
I think that currently the digital world can be the natural host of the physical environment, and will be still more so in the future, even with this emergency behind us. But for international events like ours, the physical experience will always be the crucial element.
What changes in the fashion world do you see in the wake of this emergency?
Changes regarding distribution, certainly. In fact, those changes began a while ago. Luckily, fashion has already shown an extraordinary ability to get back on its feet and adapt every time that it has faced great social, economic or fiscal crises. This time, though, institutions have to keep the promises they’ve made, and quickly, if we’re going to get through this “night”, which certainly cannot be allowed to last too long.
Something not to miss in the city this summer?
Among the things that you absolutely have to see at the moment, the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo is really surprising. I would suggest a visit to the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, which always puts on interesting, not to say highly current, exhibitions.
What does Florence mean to you at such a strange time?
A city that - and of this I am certain - will recover as soon as Covid-19 is beaten.
