Rowing in Art
Sportsman in love with Florence: the passions of Luca Aiazzi
You live and work in Prato, but for your sports activities you wear the colours of Florence…
It’s true: with Porsche Florence, Florence Aeroclub and the Florence Rowing Club. Three associations I have very fond links with. A relationship that’s also made of excellent results. With the Florence Porsche Club I’ve taken part in the Porsche Italian track championships; with the Rowing Club I won three Italian titles in the over-50 category in 2018 and the Italian 4+ title and an international race in Montecarlo in 2017 - also in the 4+ but in the overall category.
Whether it’s rowing or flying, you do it in a truly exceptional setting: Florence. Which are your two favourite views of the city?
From the single-engine propellor plane I fly, Brunelleschi’s dome, which I get to see really close up, since with this kind of plane you can descend to 1000 feet above the city. From the Arno, it’s definitely the stretch between the Ponte Vecchio and the Santa Trinità bridge.
As a professional dentist specialising in aesthetic prostheses, CAD/CAM techniques, implants and gnathology, what is beauty in your view?
It’s undoubtedly harmony, even with the passing of time. Beauty is personality and maintaining a person’s identity, so I’m not keen on extreme interventions.
With so much work and sport, do you have time to go out for dinner in Florence?
Of course! The place I love best is the Circolo Canottieri: I adore having dinner on the lawn below the Ponte Vecchio. But I also have to mention aperitifs at the Gallery or dinner at Buca dell’Orafo or the Enoteca Fiorentina. Florence never disappoints!
