In the name of style
Alessandro Squarzi, a man of style and fashion, presents his Fortela brand
When you were a child, what did you imagine your life would be like?
Just as it is now.
Name two or three things you can’t face the world without.
White jeans, a camel coat, and loafers.
When was the last time you were really excited?
At my daughter Allegra’s examination at the end of junior secondary school.
Florence and Pitti: tell us about the way you see the city, with a couple of essential addresses.
When I want to eat in an authentic Tuscan restaurant, I go to Camillo or the Vecchia Bettola; whereas I like JK Place for pre-dinner drinks. I always go to see Richard Ginori’s collection of tableware, and buy Pot Pourri cologne at the historic Officina Profumo Farmaceutica Santa Maria Novella in Florence.
What was your most recent fashion purchase?
A blue vintage Burberry coat (for 80 euros).
Fortela is the name of your brand, a world of inspiration that truly reflects your character. Tell us about its essence.
Travelling around the world, I realised there are certain types of clothing that just can’t be found in Italy, but that I’ve always found very appropriate for men.
And so I studied the fabrics, materials and details and adapted them to suit Italian contemporary taste: this is the essence of Fortela.
Tell us about your dream.
To see Fortela grow exponentially.
And finally, your favourite dish, film and song.
The Shawshank Redemption, the Rolling Stones’ She’s a Rainbow, Potatoes and caviar at Caviar Kaspia in Paris.
