Maestro Zubin Mehta is back at work, once again on the podium of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with a concert that will be recorded on Saturday, March 6, to be subsequently broadcast in streaming.
On stage, together with him, the pianist Rudolf Buchbinder. The programme includes the world premiere of a score by Fabio Vacchi dedicated to Nelson Mandela entitled Beethoven and the rediscovered spring and three compositions by Mozart: the Ouverture from Le nozze di Figaro, the Concerto in D minor K. 466 for piano and orchestra and the Symphony no. 40 in G minor K. 550.
Further recordings of three symphony concerts and an opera are planned for March. We are talking about concerts conducted by Sir Eliot Gardiner on 9 March, Manfred Honeck on 21 March and, again, by Zubin Mehta on 27 March with violinist Vilde Frang. Finally, on 28 March, a recording of Mozart's opera Così fan tutte is scheduled, conducted by Zubin Mehta in the new production by Sven-Erich Bechtolf.
