XVI Edizion Premio Galileo

Friday, November 6 Teatro della Pergola. Among the honorees Paolo Conte and Tim Robbins

The XVI edition of the Premio Galileo 2000 is located in the Forum program "Unity in Diversity", which will collect between 5 and 8 November 2015, in Florence, mayors and dignitaries from around the world in memory of Giorgio La Pira, with a program focused on the ideals of peace which he always professed.

The same basic principles of the award, which has had a twenty-year history and a prize list of the most prestigious internationally, having recognized and rewarded, sometimes in advance of the Nobel, leading figures in business, politics, culture and science.

So again this year. Here is the list of winners:


Ingenuity Award for Civil: Tim Robbins, actor, director and screenwriter US awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2004 for his performance in Mystic River.

Prize for Contemporary Music: Paolo Conte considered one of the most important Italian singers as well as being multi-instrumentalist and lyricist.

Prize for Human Rights: Narghes Mohammadi, Iranian human rights activist and vice president of the Defender Of Human Rights Center.

Prize for the Freedom of Expression: Tawakkul Karman, Yemeni activist and policy.

Music Award: Alexander Pereira, General Manager and Artistic Director of the Teatro alla Scala.

The evening star at 20:30, with entrance from 19.30. As well as guests of the Forum and the institutional presence, the Prize will be open to the public, with limited places, go to the site to gain credit  from Wednesday, November 4.

Tim Robbins will perform a song (as well as being an actor is, in fact, an appreciated interpreter country rock), while Paolo Conte will give the public a 30-minute concert.
