Waiting for the Oscars 2022

All the nominations and the Italians competing for the most coveted statuette in the world of cinema

The glittering night of the Oscars 2022 is approaching. At the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, everything is almost ready for the most awaited award ceremony of the cinema, now in its 94th edition.

Also this year there will be a bit of Italy. There are three names of our house that have snatched a nomination. The first is Paolo Sorrentino, who returns to the Oscars 8 years after his spectacular victory with La grande bellezza. This year he returns with an intimate and personal film, It was the Hand of God, competing in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. The second is costume designer Massimo Cantini Parrini, who last year made us dream with the perfect costumes of Matteo Garrone's Pinocchio. This year he did the encore thanks to his collaboration with Jacqueline Durran for the costumes of Joe Wright's Cyrano. Finally, the director Enrico Casarosa, a 50-year-old Genoese transplanted to New York who has returned to his native Liguria to set his most important feature film there: Luca. This is his second Oscar nomination. In 2012 his short film Luna was among the five finalists for Best Animated Short Film.

Among the favorites are The Power of the Dog and Coda for Best Picture, and Jane Campion is in pole position for Best Director.
