Villa San Michele, a treasure trove of beauty, great cuisine and hospitality in the hills of Fiesole
Why you can't miss this exclusive destination with the most beautiful view in Florence
To describe the wonder of a place as unique as Villa San Michele is truly difficult.
Nestled in the hills of Fiesole, Belmond Villa San Michele stands on an ancient medieval monastery where 14th-century craftsmanship combines with the ethereal beauty of an enchanting place to create a hotel as fascinating as Florence's great art.
To welcome us, the facade attributed to Michelangelo is only the prelude to a bucolic vision dotted with lush woods and terraced gardens overlooking Florence.
A season full of novelties is waiting for you in the name of taste and the desire to feel good, to live authentic and carefree experiences in a setting of great beauty.
With its large, private open-air spaces, one of the most beautiful views of the city and a wide range of restaurants, the Villa is preparing to be a unique destination for those seeking special experiences and the magic of being on holiday in their own city.
But let's discover the unmissable novelties.
ART IN THE VILLA
For the first time in Fiesole, until 15 October, there will be an exhibition of works by the Florentine maestro Massimo Listri, an internationally renowned photographer who has immortalised the most extraordinary villas and architectural works of all time. His photographic works will welcome guests at La Loggia Restaurant and other selected locations in the hotel. Those who spend special moments at the Villa will be able to 'go on a journey' through the lesser-known perspectives and details of some of the most famous cultural sites.
Ten works of art will be exhibited in dialogue with the Renaissance architecture of the Villa. These include rooms in historic Florentine palaces - Palazzo Serristori and Palazzo Martelli, as well as the Sala del Mappamondo in Palazzo Vecchio.
GOURMET SUMMER AT LA LOGGIA RESTAURANT
The cuisine of Executive Chef Alessandro Cozzolino, in his third season in Fiesole, is a tribute to the territory, its history and traditions; it respects and at the same time reinterprets Tuscan cuisine with research, knowledge of raw materials and innovation. The menu features two new tasting menus: Tentazioni Toscane, a journey deeply inspired by local art and taste, and Alchimie Floreali, a vegetarian menu, totally inspired by the quintessential Tuscan flowers and scents. Open every evening from Monday to Sunday from 19:00 to 22:30. Closed at lunchtime.
PIZZERIA WITH A VIEW
Open from June 3rd, from Thursday to Sunday from 8pm to 10.30pm, an exclusive Pizzeria set in the Italian Gardens under the portico of the villa, with an open oven. The pizzas will be prepared on sight with local products and cooked in the oven under the pergola. Twelve tables overlooking Florence for a dinner with friends in a jovial and relaxed atmosphere. There are two fixed menus on the menu: the pizza round, preceded by Tuscan hors d'oeuvres, and the "La ciccia toscana" menu, which features Florentine steak. There is also a rich selection of Tuscan craft beers. Reservations required.
SUNSET PICNIC
Back by popular demand are the picnics with a flavour of times gone by to rediscover the exceptional nature of simple things. Couples or small groups of friends will have the freedom to choose the corner they like best, spread out a soft blanket and enjoy the delicacies in their basket, accompanied by delicate bubbles. An experience in complete freedom to get together and spend carefree moments.
