Here is the program of exhibitions that we'll see in this 2016 in the Uffizi Gallery

The Uffizi Gallery, the new museum was born as a result of the recent reform Franceschini by union of the Uffizi Gallery and the Museum of Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens, directed by Eike Schmidt, announce the exhibition program for 2016.

This program is also a separate exhibition, a collaboration of the Uffizi Gallery with the Fondazione Pitti Immagine Discovery.

Uffizi, March 21 - August 28, 2016

Throughout the first half of the fifteenth century painted sculpture - a wooden, marble or terracotta - was the expression of the primacy of artistic sculpture. This exhibition, through about fifty works, investigates the story of the polychrome wooden sculpture of the fifteenth century in Florence, the city where the proximity of the shops, places of secret meetings between sculptors, painters and architects, was often decisive for the activity of the masters of time.

Pitti Palace, Palatine Gallery, April - July 2016

The Gallery on the occasion of the loan of two works by Pontormo at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt will receive in exchange the altarpiece of the Holy Cross by Adam Elsheimer. The altarpiece, which was in ancient collections of Cosimo II de 'Medici, will be exposed with an educational kit that will illustrate the story, its dispersion and its reconstruction developed on the basis of archival documents.

Pitti Palace, Palatine Gallery, May 9 - September 4, 2016

Approximately thirty works of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, mainly from the deposits of the Palatine Gallery, illustrate figurative subjects bizarre applicants in the Medici collections. It is scenes called 'gender', that allowed to illustrate, often with intent moral or didactic, comic aspects of social life and of the court, that is, those issues considered otherwise low and devoid of decoration.

Thirty-seven works, including drawings and prints, related to the first thirty years about the Novecentoper and mostly unseen by the public. Representations of figures, faces, portraits full of deep expressiveness clutching psychological games of glances between the artist and the character portrait and between him and the spectator. Among the selected authors Jacques Villon, Alberto Giacometti, Anders Zorn, and even Ram and Thayat Giovanni Costetti, Giuseppe Lunardi, Pietro Bugiani, Kurt Craemer, Primo Conti, Giuseppe Lanza del Vasto, Marino Marini.

Precious small sculptures in the Medici collections: the Tribune of Francesco I de 'Medici treasure Grand Ducal
Palazzo Pitti, the Silver Museum June 21 - November 2, 2016

In the Uffizi Gallery holds the most important collection of a rare type of art glyptic, small sculptures in hard stone produced mainly in the Hellenistic and Roman, whose technique was lost in the Middle Ages, only to be rediscovered and revived in the era Renaissance. The exhibition, the first devoted to this particular artistic production, will bring together all of the Medici collection microsculptures.

The exhibition, the first monograph dedicated to Soffici (1879 - 1964) will be an opportunity to retrace the artistic experience as a painter, writer, art critic and polemicist who lived actively its time, coming into contact and sometimes in deep, bold contrast with contemporary movements of Italian and European art scene. Fundamental character for renewal in key twentieth-century art in Italy. Exhibitions in works ranging from Segantini to Cezanne, Renoir, Picasso, Degas to Medardo Rosso, from De Chirico to Carra, over the same Soffici.

The exhibition will highlight how to develop the practice of drawing in Venice and the Veneto between the time of Titian, Veronese and Tintoretto and that of Canaletto, time when figurative art was particularly linked to the dynamics of the art workshops. Combination and comparison of works that are part of the collections of the Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe of the Uffizi and Ashmolean Museum at Oxford University.

A significant selection of the more than two hundred eighty watches, heritage of the Pitti Palace. Singular art objects witnesses the passing of the days of those who lived in the palace in Florence between the eighteenth and nineteenth century.

Pitti Palace, Palatine Gallery, September 27, 2016 - January 8, 2017

The exhibition will include four beautiful tapestries related to the third decade of the eighteenth century, with custom-designed by the painter Giovanni Camillo Sagrestani. It is one of the most beautiful set of clothes production Medici, signed by the most skilled weavers who were employed at the time including Vittorio Demignot formed in Flanders. Represent the four continents rendered with bizarre attributes and imaginative inventions.
