This Week in Florence (3/9 December)
Christmas is coming. Here's what to do in early December
December has arrived and Florence has already dressed up for the arrival of Christmas. From the square of San Miniato al Monte, illuminated by the work of the artist Roberta Cipriani made on the occasion of the thousand years of the Basilica, to the sparkling Via de 'Tornabuoni, as always one of the protagonists of the Florentine Christmas, but not the only one, because everything the center shines like never before, and in Piazza Santa Croce the Bavarian style market is back, perfect to find some gift ideas.
The goodies for opera lovers are then Carmen and La Traviata, both at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Theater, the first until 6, the second until 9.
While at the Teatro della Pergola, Paolo Valerio conducts Massimo Venturiello in "Measure by measure" by William Shakespeare, from December 4th to 9th.
The evening for those who want to dance is Friday 7 and you can choose between the folk rock rhythm of Bandabardò at the Nelson Mandela Forum, the music of the pianist Peter Bence all'ObiHall and the electronic Nextech in Fortezza da Basso.
The unmissable of art is always theirs: Marina Abramovic at Palazzo Strozzi, the exhibition dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci at the Uffizi, but also that of the artist Cai Guo-Qiang, also at the Uffizi and Banksy at Palazzo Medici Riccardi.
