Il Borro Toscana, the book on the timeless charm of this incredible estate
The story of Ferruccio Ferragamo and his family in a collector's coffee table book
The timeless charm of Il Borro, a thousand-year-old medieval hamlet surrounded by 1,100 organic hectares, encapsulated in a book celebrating its beauty. Il Borro Toscana is the first coffee table book, published by Gruppo Editoriale (and which you can purchase by clicking here) that recounts, page after page, Ferruccio Ferragamo's deep bond with Valdarno and this incredible estate, one of the most beautiful in Tuscany.
A love story born 70 years ago, when parents Salvatore and Wanda Ferragamo bought the Viesca Estate, also in Valdarno, where the family used to spend their summers: the love born from a dream and the dedication to preserve the beauty and integrity of this very special land. From this love, a place of hospitality was reborn, but also a good retiro, considered by the Ferragamos as a true country residence. In fact, it is still possible today to see them on their land, guarding tradition, culture and sustainability, and becoming spokesmen for the most elegant Tuscan hospitality.
A 240-page book that uses over 200 iconic images to tell the story of the estate and the people who have always looked after it with dedication and commitment. A journey that starts from the hospitality spread throughout the ancient hamlet, the villa and the surrounding farmhouses, part of the Relais & Châteaux circuit with accommodation and dwellings designed ad hoc for a unique experience in the authentic Tuscan atmosphere.
A company that is attentive to sustainability, based on the exclusive use of natural fertilisers for the cultivation of its vineyards, and a modern winery of international standing that produces over 400 thousand bottles of certified organic wine, told through the words of Salvatore, Ferruccio's son, who looks after it with great care.
We then come to the chapter dedicated to the products of the land, a theme that is particularly close to the heart of Ferruccio's daughter, Vittoria Ferragamo. Il Borro, in fact, is an organic and sustainable estate. The garden respects the cycle of the seasons and natural balances, safeguarding traditional local seeds and crops, which make the harvest genuine and varied.
The last part of the book is dedicated to the gastronomic experience, starting with the gourmet restaurant L'Osteria del Borro, and arriving at Il Borro Tuscan Bistro, a concept restaurant that brings Il Borro's philosophy and style to the world. The format, in fact, is also present in Florence, London, Dubai and Crete.
The book is on sale in the best bookshops and on the Gruppo Editoriale website.
