Rocca delle Macìe hosts third international falconry gathering
From 8 to 11 December, the event organised by the Zingarelli Family on the occasion of World Falconry Day
The Zingarelli family, a well-known wine producer in Tuscany and recognised for the quality of its hospitality, wine, cinema and nature, has also become a promoter of the ancient art of falconry, a thousand-year-old art recognised by Unesco as a Living Heritage of Humanity, thus broadening its horizons of sustainability.
The wildlife project, started in 2021, aims to re-establish a natural balance of the ecosystem to preserve and enrich the biodiversity of the area. A large part of the land belonging to the Zingarelli family, - still covered by native vegetation of holm oaks, strawberry trees, and broom - has been earmarked for the art of falconry, with the establishment of the Rocca delle Macìe Fauna and Hunting Reserve, and from 2021 it has thus become Italy's first centre dedicated to exhibition, training and ancestral hunting, practised with falcons.
At the end of such an important year for the Zingarelli Family, which has celebrated half a century of history with many events and activities, including an important editorial tribute to the founder Italo Zingarelli in collaboration with Giunti Editore, it has decided to pay homage to another very important theme to allow generational continuity between Present and Future: the ecosystem. From Friday 8 December to Monday 11 December, the Zingarelli family is dedicating a few days to the noble art in the setting of the Chianti Classico territory, together with birds of prey of all species and trainers, who will share wonderful stories, strictly around a table and with a nice glass of wine.
Four days of development, flight tests, reflections and round tables, on the theme of the Art of Falconry, hunting techniques, breeding and veterinary care. More than 45 falconers from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania and, of course, Italy are taking part in the event.
