Pitti Uomo 101
Let's discover together all the fashion appointments not to be missed in the city
This is it. Despite the difficulties linked to the worsening of the Pandemic, Pitti Immagine confirms the start of Pitti Uomo 101 with 600 brands at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence from 11 to 13 January 2022. Pitti Immagine Bimbo 94 will also be held on the same dates and in the same location this year.
"We are ready to make our contribution to the recovery of Italian fashion and international trade," said Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine. "We also attribute a symbolic value to this edition 101. The companies are responding with enthusiasm, they are not hiding their difficulties but at the same time expressing great energy, a firm desire to return to represent themselves with their best qualities".
It must also be said that due to the current health situation, some companies have decided not to participate in this edition of Pitti Uomo and some scheduled events have been cancelled. The first company to announce this decision was Maison Brunello Cucinelli. The Caruso brand also cancelled its jazz-themed event scheduled for 11 January at the Marino Marini Museum. And on 12 January, the Ann Demeulemeester brand's retrospective event, which was announced as a special event, will not be held at the Stazione Leopolda. The eagerly awaited event that was supposed to bring 600 international guests to Florence to attend the celebration of the Belgian label owned by Milanese entrepreneur Claudio Antonioli since 2020, has been postponed to the June edition of Pitti Uomo.
"The current evolution of contagions and the consequent containment measures adopted by the Italian government and other countries in some cases make it impossible to hold a single event in its proper form, with its necessary characteristics," said Lapo Cianchi, director of communications & special events at Pitti Immagine, "and this is unfortunately the case for the special event dedicated to Ann Demeulemeester's new course. The project we wanted, together with Claudio Antonioli and Ann Demeulemeester herself, all united by great enthusiasm, was a celebration of fashion, music, entertainment and sociability, where people and their interactions were an integral part of the show. Over the last few weeks we have been trying to adapt the project to the changing environmental conditions, ensuring maximum safety for all the people involved in the production, but gradually the project became empty and it was no longer possible to maintain the original spirit. The celebration of Ann's long and prestigious career and the farewell to the promising new course deserve the best possible conditions: this is why, reluctantly, we have decided to postpone the event to the next edition of Pitti Uomo, in June 2022".
But here are the main news and appointments of Pitti Uomo 101.
THIS EDITION'S THEME
Pitti Reflections is the new theme of the Pitti Immagine fairs: the leitmotif of the displays in the Fortezza and Leopolda, designed by creative director Angelo Figus, and the creative impetus for the advertising campaign shot by the duo Narènte, a couple that divides their time between Berlin and Sardinia, in a high-impact photographic set.
"The editorial theme is always an important topic for Pitti editions, to which we devote great attention," explains Agostino Poletto, director general of Pitti Immagine. "PITTI REFLECTIONS means reflections, but also inner and outer reflections, windows that open, glimpses that take you inside and make you look far away, references that go beyond what you expect to represent a new beginning".
