Le ceramiche Zaccagnini raffiguranti i personaggi Walt Disney. Una preziosa collezione
From September 26 to October 6 at the Galleria del Palazzo Coveri
In 1938 Florentine ceramics manufacturer Zaccagnini, in business since the late 19th century, obtained a licence from Walt Disney Productions to produce statuettes inspired by Disney films, in the wake of the extraordinary global success of the first feature-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. With the support of the presidency of the Region of Tuscany and the City of Florence, Galleria del Palazzo Coveri hosts - from 26 September until 6 October - the exhibition Le ceramiche Zaccagnini raffiguranti i personaggi Walt Disney. Una preziosa collezione (Zaccagnini ceramics depicting Walt Disney characters: a precious collection). The exhibition, fruit of painstaking selection and organisation by Raffaello Pernici with the collaboration of Francesca Roberti, casts light on the Florentine workshop’s focus on the world of Disney between 1938 and 1955.
The show at the gallery, an elegant, prestigious exhibition space in the heart of Florence, is curated by a Beatrice Cifuentes and features more than 60 glazed ceramic sculptures from Raffaello Pernici’s collection, in an exhibition focusing on the Florentine workshop’s production of Disney characters between 1938 and 1955. The exhibition not only celebrates the intersection of popular culture and fine art but also underscores the enduring legacy of Zaccagnini’s work within the broader context of ceramic craftsmanship. The gallery is open every day, from 10:30 to 18:30, with free admission, offering a unique opportunity to admire these precious little works of art: miniature masterpieces of the art of ceramics that will capture the hearts of visitors both young and old with their timeless beauty and universal charm.
