Florence an Italian city included in Lonely Planet's 'Best in Travel 2021'
Only Italian city with double prize in the Sustainability and Community categories of the most influential ranking in the world
Florence is the only Italian city included by Lonely Planet in the 'Best in Travel 2021' classification for two categories.
In fact, our city has won double recognition for 'sustainability' and 'community' in the world's most eagerly awaited and famous travel ranking.
For the 'Sustainability' category, the award went to 'Le vie di Dante', the spiritual journey in the footsteps of the Supreme Poet considered a 'magnificent example of slow travel from his tomb in Ravenna to his birthplace in Florence'.
For the category 'Community' the award went to 'Girl in Florence', Georgette Jupe's blog which "offers travellers a deeper bond with Italy's most important city from a cultural point of view, seen through the eyes of local artists and craftsmen, independent shops and foreign residents".
The award given by Lonely Planet in Florence with the 'Best in Travel' 2021 award for sustainability is a positive sign that bodes well for the future of tourism in Florence and Tuscany.
