“The telephoto lens of God”. So some people have described Massimo Sestini, world-famous Tuscan photographer and winner of the World Press Photo of the Year 2015, who pushes the boundaries and enjoys overturning perceptions.

His canvas is the world, his gaze the paintbrush, the setting his frame.

In these pages we present a selection of his aerial photographs taken from the book Italy. Twilight Skylines from Police Helicopters, published by our own Gruppo Editoriale and with artistic direction by Federica Rotondo, whose publication was followed by a series of exhibitions in the world’s major embassies.

The subjects are our beautiful cities and landscapes seen from a unique angle which encompasses all their splendour. 

Photographs that are at one and the same time incredible - impossible, even - and real, genuine snapshots of life and wonder.
