To celebrate the day of 'Epiphany in Florence, Sunday, January 6, Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence organizes historical reenactment of the Magi.
The solemn procession led by the Three Wise Men on horseback, in sumptuous silk dresses inspired by those of fresco by Benozzo Gozzoli, will consist of approximately 700 people, including those of the Florentine Republic.
After the departure from Piazza Pitti, at 14.00, the procession will wind through the streets of downtown Florence until you reach Piazza Duomo, at 15:30. Here, after the greeting of the figures and the outbreak of colubrina, the Three Kings will lay their gifts at the feet of the Living Nativity.
Another traditional event not to be missed in Florence is the steam train of the Epiphany, departing from Florence Santa Maria Novella at 9:00 am, arriving in San Piero a Sieve around 11 am and return to Florence Santa Maria Novella around 14.
