Discovering Calzoleria Toscana's footwear
The art of leather meets Made in Italy craftsmanship in unique and timeless footwear
In the heart of Florence, just a few steps from Palazzo Strozzi, is the historic Calzoleria Toscana, an institution of fine leather craftsmanship since 1958. Founded by master shoemaker Luciano Bettaccini, the workshop began as a small family-run business. But it was in 1977 that Luciano started the transformation, expanding the business with the support of his two nephews, Enrico and Paolo. From that moment, step by step, Calzoleria Toscana began to conquer the Italian leather footwear market.
Each shoe is born from a heritage of craftsmanship techniques handed down from generation to generation, combining excellent quality and unique design to give the wearer elegance and personality. The process starts with the leather itself, carefully selected from the best Made in Italy supplies.
The company's true signature is the original garment-dyeing technique, developed in-house. This process involves soaking the shoes in a drum (a large washing machine) for eight hours, washing and dyeing them with natural pigments, and then leaving them to rest for two days. The result is a leather with rich, muted colours, reminiscent of the elegance of times gone by, but with a softness and comfort that lasts.
Today, the passion and craftsmanship that have made Calzoleria Toscana famous can be found in the two flagship lines: Calzoleria Toscana and Rosso Fiorentino. The result of experience, stylistic research and investment in cutting-edge technology, these collections represent the excellence of Made in Italy, a symbol to be proud of.
