Six months of events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Bargello in Florence
The Bargello Museum is 150 years old. It was established by Royal Decree 22 June 1865, but already some weeks hosted two major exhibitions, one dedicated to Dante, which in that year was celebrated the sixth anniversary of the birth, and the second to the art of the Middle Ages.
Born as Palazzo del Podesta at half of the thirteenth century, and then transformed into prison for almost three centuries, the Bargello is one of the major state museums of Florence, known for being the largest concentration of masterpieces by Donatello, but also Michelangelo, Verrocchio, Cellini, Giambologna and many others.
Meanwhile, it was launched the program of events that, in six months, will celebrate 150 years since establishment of the first national museum in Italy: it is a concert in close connection with the anniversary of a century and Dante a half ago, a series of conferences, an international conference focused on the birth of the national museums in Europe and the publication of a book on the history of the National Museum of the Bargello through images.
A CONCERT FOR DANTE
A tangle of memories, and the city's history and brings national music in the courtyard of the Bargello, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the inauguration of the National Museum: the Music School of Fiesole holds a concert program and various composite that mixes music inspired the figure and work of Dante.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, at 19 in the courtyard of the Bargello Museum (free admission until all available seats).
FIVE LECTURES ON THE MUSEUM
In the space of just over a month, the National Museum of the Bargello will be held five conferences held by specialists of exception, that illustrate themes focused on masterpieces and collections that make the Bargello one of the most famous museums in the world, but there will Also discover the most secret and fascinating history of the building. All conferences will be held in the Hall of Donatello, beginning always at 17.30.

HISTORY MUSEUM OF IMAGING
As part of the events planned to celebrate the Bargello, it will be published a book entitled The 150 years of the National Museum of the Bargello. A story in pictures, by Ilaria Ciseri and Marino Marini, Florence, Edifir.

THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
Will close in the fall, the program of celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Bargello, the international conference entitled "The Birth of the national museums in Europe", in collaboration with the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence 30-31 October 2015.
The conference attended by scholars and specialists from leading museums and universities in Europe, which will address both the history of the formation of large museum collections contemporary establishment of the Bargello, and the development 'trans-national' phenomenon, with a multilineage the relationship between national states and public collections.
