Antico Ristoro di Cambi, where Tuscan cuisine is combined with a warm, family atmosphere

Discovering a historic restaurant where every detail tells a story of passion and authenticity

In the heart of the San Frediano district, where Florentine authenticity can be breathed in every alley, is the Antico Ristoro di Cambi, a place that tells a story of tradition, passion and genuine flavours. It all began in 1950, when Silvano and Bruno opened the Fiaschetteria di Cambi, a small shop where the Arno renaioli would stop during their breaks to enjoy a sandwich with Tuscan cold cuts and a glass of wine. It was a simple, authentic place where conviviality and a love for the flavours of the past reigned supreme.

Over the years, that passion turned into a valuable legacy. In 1987, Fabio and Stefano, Silvano and Bruno's sons, decided to breathe new life into the fiaschetteria, transforming it into a trattoria. Thus was born the Antico Ristoro di Cambi, a restaurant where traditional Tuscan cuisine is combined with a warm, family atmosphere, capable of welcoming customers as if they were long-standing friends.

Entering the restaurant, housed in a historic 16th-century building, one is immediately enveloped in a rustic and cosy atmosphere: exposed beams, wooden tables and details that evoke the warmth of a country house. But the real star here is the food. From the counter, where the cold meats and cheeses are freshly cut, to the dishes served at the table, everything is a tribute to tradition.

The Antico Ristoro di Cambi is famous for its Florentine specialities, from tripe and lampredotto, symbols of popular cuisine, to tagliatelle al cinghiale (tagliatelle with wild boar sauce) and above all the famous Florentine steak, which is a must here. There is no shortage of home-made pickles in oil, a riot of flavours reminiscent of the preserves of yesteryear. Each dish is made with the highest quality ingredients, carefully selected to guarantee an unforgettable culinary experience.

Accompanying these delights is an extraordinary wine cellar, among the best stocked in Florence. Wine lovers can choose between a glass of Chianti Classico, ideal for enhancing Tuscan flavours, or opt for prestigious labels such as Bolgheri or Ornellaia, true oenological jewels.

Whether for an informal lunch or a convivial dinner with handmade pasta and a glass of fine wine, the Antico Ristoro di Cambi promises a journey through the authentic flavours of Tuscan tradition, in a place where every detail tells a story of passion and authenticity.
