Annunciazione by Filippino Lippi in San Gimignano
From 13 June to 2 November 2015 at the Pinacoteca in Piazza Duomo
From June 13 until November 2, the Pinacoteca in San Gimignano is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the Florentine painter Filippino Lippi.
The exhibition has been inspired from the Annunciazione, the work created by the artist in two distinct rounds depicting one the Angel of the Annunciation, the other the Annunziata, commissioned in 1482 by the Priors and Guelph Captains for the Palazzo Comunale of San Gimignano.
In the exhibition along with two rounds of Filipino, resubmitted neighbors as originally had to be, they are also shown drawings of great quality painter's hand.
Also exposed are also documents relating to the commission of the Annunciazione, a historical material kept for over five centuries in the archives of San Gimignano.
A short path, but of great value, an opportunity to retrace the most important steps of stories of San Gimignano, in particular those related to Florence.
