Christmas lights up in Via de' Tornabuoni
New lights light up the glamorous shopping street again this year
The lighting of Via de' Tornabuoni officially kicks off the Christmas celebrations. It is a well-established tradition for the famous Florentine shopping street, which will light up again this year.
A triumph of lights enriched by objects that recall tradition: elegant cold white LED pendants suspended between the buildings, interspersed with iconic gift parcels decorated with a red fibreglass bow. Opening and concluding the city's most glamorous promenade, in the stretch between Santa Trinita and Piazza Antinori, are two large luminous installations in the shape of gift parcels, open and walkable, into which one can enter to take a photo or shoot a souvenir video immersed in the Christmas atmosphere.
The decorating project on Via Tornabuoni aims once again this year to provide a festive atmosphere among the shop windows for tourists and Florentines who pass through these streets every day, but without renouncing the concept of energy saving, thanks to the use of low-intensity LEDs that guarantee lower electricity consumption. The same type of illuminations also shine on Via degli Strozzi and Via dei Pescioni.
In addition to Via de' Tornabuoni and its surroundings, the Christmas air also touches Piazza Santa Croce, where we find one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Tuscany, the Weihnachtsmarkt, which keeps us company until 17 December.
